Getting to Wells using public transport
The nearest railway stations are Bristol Temple Meads, Bath, and Castle Cary. There is a local bus (376) from Temple Meads to Wells. You may wish to purchase a "plus-bus" ticket when you buy your train ticket. From Castle Cary you will need a taxi (prior booking recommended). It is a 16 mile journey with a taxi fare of £25 (£37 Sundays & out of hours). We can recommend Cathedral Taxis Tel:+44 1749 672 244. There are occasional buses to Shepton Mallet and from there to Wells, but this is not recommended if you haven't researched the times. Timetables and Fares can be found on thetrainline.com and First Bus websites.
